I'm obsessed with storytelling. How did it all start? In rural West Virginia. I'm a coal miner's daughter from Marshall County and, as a child, my best friends were books and bicycles. I was in 4-H and wrote my first speech at age seven. I "published" my own novel at age 12. (Construction paper, markers, and staples, and my mom still cherishes it!) That's all to say—storytelling isn't just something I enjoy. It's part of me. WVU set me on the path to success, and since then I've always approached every career step starting with the question: What new thing can I learn next? When I’m not working, I’m hanging with my dog and cat (Cappy and Bean!), or paddle boarding, or watching old episodes of Melrose Place, or doing outreach for the Literacy Council of St. Petersburg, where I serve on the Board. I also love chasing hot air balloons, geocaching, gobbling up audiobooks, and traveling as often as I can. |
